The demand for new construction permits remains high despite a dip in the first quarter of the year, with Black Sea port of Burgas requesting the largest number of permits, statistics board NSI said on Tuesday. The total number of building permits issued in the January-March period was 4.049, compared to 4.733 permits issued in the previous three months. Permits for residential buildings totalled 2.442 for a total 1,77 million square meters of housing. The biggest number of permits was issued in Burgas - 479, followed by another Black Sea port, Varna, with 379. Capital Sofia got 263 permits.
