Location and Local Attractions
Located in a picturesque and ecologically clean bay in the north part of the Black Sea Coast, Golden Sands Resort is only 18 km away from the town of Varna. It is situated in the Natural Park of the resort, which was declared a protected territory in 1943.
The tourist complex of Golden Sands covers a total area of 177,13 hectares. Thus the larger part of the park is preserved in its natural aspect, untouched by human hand. Closeness to the sea, mild climate nad sea breeze have strongly influenced the flora and fauna in the park and therefor it differs greatly from the other national parks. A thick deciduous forest entwined in lianas at some of the higher places gently descends to the sea coast.
69 hotels are situated in this magnificent greenery, 14 put of which are 4-star and most of the others are 3-star. There are many catering, sports and entertainment facilities located not only along the beach but also in the beautiful greenery.
The golden beach starts right in the foot of the forest. haling mineral springs are also of great wealth. Golden Sands is a winner of "Blue Flag" a prestigeous international reward for environmentally clean resorts. The major microbiological, physical and chemical readings of the atmosphere, sea and sand are monitored on a monthly basis. Within the resort area, several types of transportation are provided for the tourists velorikshas, bicycles, mini-trains and solar battery powered taxies.
The beach strip is 3.5 km long, up to 100 meters wide and it is known as one of the best sand beaches in Europe. The beach is flat and covered with fn=ine golden sand. The sandy sea bottom gently slopes into the sea.
Summer is long and hot and therefor suitable for sunbathing from May till October. Heat is not so overpowering because of the sea breeze.
Lots of amusements are offered here - a waterpark, amusement center for the kids, many many shops, restaurants and clubs, which will make everyone's holiday unforgettable!
